日本のアニメ、漫画、映画、音楽。
今や日本のポップカルチャーは、世界中で愛されています。

アメリカやヨーロッパ、アジアなど各地でイベントが開催され、先日もドイツでは日本のポップカルチャーをテーマにした大規模なイベントが開かれ、７０万人ものファンで賑わったそうです！

日本人として、とても嬉しいニュースです。
しかし、「作品を楽しむ」だけで終わらせるのは、もったいないと思いました。

もしイベントの後に、日本人と海外のファンが自由に交流できる時間があったらどうでしょうか。
好きなアニメについて語り合う。好きなキャラクターについて話す。作品を通して、お互いの文化や価値観について語り合う。そこには、言葉だけでは生まれない、新しい出会いと感動があるはずです。

私は長年、ビジネス英語と異文化コミュニケーションを指導してきましたが、人は「好きなこと」を話すとき、不思議なくらい積極的になります。
「英語が苦手だから…」と言っていた人でも、自分の好きなアニメや漫画の話になると、自然と笑顔になり、英語で伝えようとします。

だから私は、日本のポップカルチャーには、英語学習のきっかけから、日本人と海外の人々をつなぐ大きな力があると感じています。

これからの日本は、海外とのビジネスや外国人材との協働がますます重要になります。
だからこそ、仕事だけでなく、「好き」という共通点から始まる交流の場も必要ではないでしょうか。

アニメや漫画をきっかけに会話が始まり、その出会いが信頼へ、そしてビジネスや新たなプロジェクトへと発展していく。そんな未来を想像すると、とてもワクワクします。

私は、日本と世界をつなぐ”交流の場”をもっと増やしていきたいと考えています。

🌏 Can Japanese Anime and Manga Become a Universal Language That Connects the World?

Japanese anime, manga, films, and music are now loved by people all over the world.
Events celebrating Japanese pop culture are held across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Recently, Germany hosted a large-scale Japanese pop culture festival that attracted and packed with as many as 700,000 fans enthusiastic fans!

As a Japanese professional, this makes me very proud. But I also found myself thinking:
What if we could create something even more meaningful than simply enjoying the content?

Imagine if, after these events, Japanese fans and international fans had the opportunity to connect and talk with one another.
They could share their favorite anime, discuss beloved characters, and exchange ideas about the cultures and values reflected in those stories.
Those conversations could create friendships and unforgettable experiences that go far beyond language.

For many years, I have taught Business English and cross-cultural communication.
One thing I have learned is that people become surprisingly confident when they talk about something they truly love.
Even those who say,”My English isn’t very good,” often begin speaking naturally when the conversation turns to their favorite things.

That is why I believe Japanese pop culture is much more than entertainment.
It is a powerful bridge that encourages people to communicate, learn English naturally, and connect across cultures.

As Japan continues to expand global business and work with more international professionals, opportunities for genuine interaction will become increasingly important.
Perhaps conversations that begin with anime or manga can grow into trust, collaboration, business partnerships, and even new projects. That future is exciting.

I hope to create more opportunities where people from Japan and around the world can connect through shared interests and meaningful conversations.
