先日、あるテレビ番組で興味深い話が紹介されていました。
ある新卒の方が、日本企業に入社した際、通常の新入社員の年収が約300万円のところ、英語ができるという理由で600万円で採用されたというのです。
外資系企業ではありません。日本企業での話です。

つまり、同じ新卒でも、スタートラインの段階で大きな差が生まれているということです。

A new graduate joined a Japanese company and was hired at an annual salary of 6 million yen—double the typical starting salary of around 3 million yen—simply because he could speak English. This wasn’t a foreign company. It was a Japanese company.
